July 11, 2016

I spent my first summer as a BLM ranger, back in 1983, working on a three-person trail crew in the Powderhorn Primitive Area (now Wilderness Area).  I was stationed at the Powderhorn Lakes and every few weeks I'd hike up to Calf Creek Plateau.  At an elevation of 12,800', the plateau provides a beautiful view of the two lakes, but take it from me:  you definitely don't want to be here during a lightning storm.
